Lizzie came to yoga through a pivotal moment in her life where her health was taking a turn for the worse, and quickly at that. She knew she needed a change, especially when it came to her career of sitting at a computer all day. She had come to love martial arts through her black belt training as well as teaching classes when she was asked by the instructors to do so, but it was taking a toll on her body that she simply could not keep up with. As she prayed and searched for answers, she came across an ad online for aerial yoga. It sparked her interest as she had always loved cirque performances. As she looked into training, she quickly realized she would need to start out with her foundational studies. After searching for the right school, God opened the doors and she was signed up for the 9-month 200-HR training at Asheville Yoga Center in Asheville, NC. In between her foundational studies and before she graduated her 200-HR, she was certified in Level 1 Aerial Yoga in Baltimore, MD through AerialKim.

Through her studies at AYC and her own practice, she quickly found how healing and beneficial yoga was for an individual. Not only that, but she came to a deeper relationship with God within her practice—more than she had ever experienced at any other point in her life, even through the church. It sparked her passion and path to help others find healing and wholeness not only on a physical level, but on a mental, emotional, and spiritual one.

Since graduating her 300-HR training at AYC and becoming RYT-500® certified, she has continued her studies to deepen her knowledge towards this goal through many other modalities of trauma-sensitive, sound + energy therapy, aerial, trapeze, and SUP. She has come to blend her trainings and different modalities to tailor her one-on-one practices with clients to their needs as well as for groups.  She still continues her studies currently with YOGAFAITH’s Dance and Embodiment Trainer Certification as well as Therapy Harp’s Certified Healthcare Musician Certification. Her goal is to become a Yoga Therapist and to continue to learn more modalities that God may put on her path so she can shine the light and love of Jesus to help people from all walks of life and wherever they may be on their journey.

Lizzie loves many types of yoga including Yin, Restorative, Aerial, Bhakti, and Mindful Flow. Aside from yoga, she loves to illustrate, play music, sing, and read as well as spend time with her husband, two daughters, and their golden retriever.

What Others Say About Lizzie

  • “[Lizzie] clearly puts a lot of effort into planning her session with everyone. She changes the formula so we work different parts of the body and keeps the session fresh. She doesn't pressure you to keep up with the others. She offers multiple ways to modify so you can protect your body, but also participate. She is nonjudgmental if you are new and doesn't gate keep. She is always willing to work with you and make time to discuss exercises you can do at home, if you ask for help. She even recommends different options—like a massage therapist—to aid with ailments you may have. She is very personable, friendly, and knowledgeable.”

"Even though I have only been attending Lizzie’s class for a brief time, it was clear from the beginning, she was a very good yoga instructor! As I am elderly, I’ve had several yoga instructors over the years! I am pleased to say, Lizzie has definitely exceeded my expectations!"

  • “I started doing yoga in preparation for knee replacement surgery and found out that I really enjoyed it. After my surgery I knew I couldn’t do a lot of the moves I did previously and Lizzie made alterations on moves for me to accommodate me not being able to move as well. I was in Physical Therapy for 8 weeks and have found that there are a lot of moves that work to help me with in yoga. Doing chair yoga has been especially helpful since getting in the floor is a chore even now at 10 weeks post surgery. Lizzie’s concern for my situation has encouraged me to keep going and I hope to get full movement in my knee joint in the future. Her concern and care has been a blessing. Her class is relaxing as well. She always treats us to a mini massage at the end of each practice which helps the rest of the day. If you’re looking for a great yoga teacher try Lizzie Dillon.”
